New product – commercial legal expenses

Data breach notification laws update

The impacts of data breaches for Australian organisations are set to rise as the Federal Government has released the highly anticipated exposure draft of its proposed mandatory data breach notification laws.

The government is inviting comment on the draft until 4 March 2016. The draft was prepared in response to a report by the Parliamentary Joint Committee on Intelligence and Security, which recommended the government introduce a mandatory data breach notification scheme to help detect and prevent cyber terrorism and cyber crime.
